Overview

This conference is geared towards advanced medicolegal death investigation training. Completion of the St. Louis University Basic Medicolegal Death Investigator Training Course (or a comparable course) is required for attendance. Topics and instructors change for each Masters Conference with modern day topics geared towards the experienced investigator. Upcoming topics include but are not limited to: preparation for expert witness testimony, applications of rapid DNA, forensic entomology, management of mass fatality incidents, cognitive bias, advanced fingerprinting techniques, and discussions of complex death investigation scenes.

We will be accepting participant abstracts for poster presentations. These can be case-based, or research driven posters that discuss topics pertinent to advanced Medicolegal Investigators and the medicolegal community. Presenters will present their posters during the Conference Welcome Dinner Monday night and then displayed during the remainder of the conference. Stay tuned for more information!


Objectives

Participants will be able to:


  1. Use nationally recognized best practice techniques to investigate medico-legal deaths in their region.
  2. Modify office protocol and standard operating procedures to reflect national standards in investigation for various types of death scene cases.
  3. Utilize the expertise of other types of practitioners or other resources/databases that are readily available to enhance their current death investigation practice.

Registration Fees:

Individual Basic Conference Course Fee: 

$850.00 Basic Conference Fee includes:

  • Admission to conference sessions (four days)

  • Conference padfolio which includes:

    • Lanyard and name badge

    • Letter-size notepad

    • Pen

    • Flash drive

  • Course Syllabus Material will be made available to registered participants on a Google shared site for review/download prior to the activity

  • Daily light breakfast, afternoon snack, coffee, hot tea, soft drinks, and water provided throughout each day of the conference

  • Course Welcome Dinner on Monday with Open Bar (2 tickets per person - then cash bar)

  • Certificate of Attendance will be provided to all attendees on the last day of the course and one (1) Continuing Education certificate, if needed. Please refer to the Accreditation information below to review a list of professional continuing education certifications for which this activity has been approved. New approvals will be added as we receive them.  It is the responsibility of the participant to understand their board's requirements for continuing education credits.

If more than three participants register from the same office, there is a $75.00 discount.  Please select the $775.00 group fee when registering each participant. You will need to email the CME office, [email protected] with proof of same office employment.

Single Day Listen & Learn Fee:

Register to attend 1 or 2 days only. You must indicate at time of registration which 1 or 2 day(s) you will be attending. No certificates of attendance or CME/CE credit certificates will be awarded for attendees registered at this level. No course material will be given to attendees registered at this level. Fee includes participation to listen and learn in classroom sessions for days indicated. Fee includes light breakfast and afternoon snack for day(s) indicated. Registrants at this level are not eligible to attend the networking reception or dinner.

1 day fee - $200.00 2 day fee - $400.00

Attendance at the course will only be allowed if you have pre-registered and paid in full by May 29, 2026 (no walk-in registrations will be taken).

  • Badge is required for admittance to course and must be worn at all times throughout the week.

  • All registered participants are invited to attend the Course Welcome Dinner on Monday evening. If you would like to bring additional guests to the dinner, you may purchase additional Guest(s) Dinners at $60.00 per person at the time of registration.

  • Additional Continuing Education Certificate: $50.00 each - If more than one Continuing Education Certificate is desired, payment of additional continuing education certificate fee is required.

  • NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED FOR ADDITIONAL DINNER GUEST(S) OR ADDITIONAL CONTINUING EDUCATION CERTIFICATES

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received before May 29, 2026, will be issued a refund minus a $100.00 administrative fee.  After May 29, no refunds will be issued.

Continuing Education Information     

It is the responsibility of the participant to understand their board's requirements for continuing education credits. 

Daily sign-in is required each morning and afternoon of the activity.  Please look for additional documentation required by your accrediting body. If you do not fall into one of the approved categories below; you will only receive the Certificate of Attendance. No refunds will be issued for additional certificate fees paid. It is your responsibility to understand your CME/CE requirements for tracking and proof of credit/hours.
Approval of Continuing Education information will be added as approvals are granted.

Credit Designation

Saint Louis University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 20.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Grievance Policy & Procedure

The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards and the SLU CME Program Mission is the responsibility of the CME Program Director in consultation with the CME Program Accrediting Director & CME Chairperson, and the Continuing Education Committee. While Saint Louis University CME Program attempts to anticipate issues and assure fair treatment for all participants to conduct and experience valid and successful CME activities, there may be occasional issues which require intervention and/or action on the part of the CME Program. To register a complaint or grievance with the Saint Louis University CME Program:

Submit a written, detailed complaint or grievance to [email protected]. Complaints will be reviewed by the Program Director and addressed or transferred to the appropriate level for review:

  • Answers and/or actions taken to rectify complaints will be documented and sent to those that provide contact information.
  • If appropriate, complaints will be reviewed at the CME Committee Meeting for members to discuss and find solutions to the area of complaint.
  • Compliance issues will automatically be moved up to the Accrediting Director for immediate review.
