COVID-19 Information

For live face to face activities we are recommending the following:

Anyone with a new cough or fevers cannot attend.  Anyone that if they have a cough, fever, or have been in contact within the past 2 weeks with a person suspected of having Covid-19, cannot attend. You will be required to wear a mask at all times when attending an activity. All food items will be individual wrapped or served by a staff member that has been cleared. Please look for virtual meetings and on-line content at this time. For face to face  meetings we will have social distance set up in place, and mask will be mandatory.



Saint Louis University School of Medicine CME Program

Mission

The ultimate goal of the Continuing Medical Education (CME) Program of Saint Louis University School of Medicine is to provide high-quality, un-biased educational activities that are based on the best evidence available to help our participants improve patient outcomes within their scope of practice.

Accreditation

Saint Louis University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Saint Louis School of Medicine CME Program has been resurveyed by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and awarded Accreditation with Commendation for six years as a provider of continuing medical education for physicians. Current accreditation expires November 30, 2019.

The SLUs CME Program, accredited since 1978, provides oversight for in-house regularly scheduled conferences (RSC), as well as joint provided RSCs at other hospitals that do not have their own CME accreditation. Live activities and enduring materials are reviewed and approved for multiple disciplinary target audience as applicable  for the gap and the outcomes of the educational strategies being provided at the activity. Our program has also been approved by the American Psychological Association, Missouri Board of Nursing Home Administration, the Commission on Dietetic Registration, and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation to provide physical therapy and occupational therapy CE.  Below you will find information about the other areas of the university that currently use this portal for their continuing education activities, joint provided and direct provided.

Division of Geriatric Medicine

Since 1988 The Division of Geriatric Medicine has provided inter-professional continuing education in the practice of geriatric care in the community setting in assessment and intervention; current research into assessment and intervention strategies in such areas as: dementia, depression, communication, workforce development, nutrition, hip fractures, and caregiver well-being; and appropriate prevention, assessment, and intervention strategies in such areas as: cognitive stimulation therapy, palliative and end-of-life care, exercise, geriatric syndromes, polypharmacy, cancer, caregiver support, and home-based care.
Funded by a three-year, $2.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Division of Geriatric Medicine is leading an initiative to improve the health of older Missourians by training primary care health providers in geriatrics. The project involves professionals and students in geriatric medicine, geriatric psychiatry, nursing, social work, physical and occupational therapy, nutrition, and speech therapy.

Grievance Policy & Procedure

The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards and the SLU CME Program Mission is the responsibility of the CME Program Director in consultation with the CME Program Accrediting Director & CME Chairperson, and the Continuing Education Committee. While Saint Louis University CME Program attempts to anticipate issues and assure fair treatment for all participants to conduct and experience valid and successful CME activities, there may be occasional issues which require intervention and/or action on the part of the CME Program. To register a complaint or grievance with the Saint Louis University CME Program:

Submit a written, detailed complaint or grievance to cme@slu.edu. Complaints will be reviewed by the Program Director and addressed or transferred to the appropriate level for review:

  • Answers and/or actions taken to rectify complaints will be documented and sent to those that provide contact information.
  • If appropriate, complaints will be reviewed at the CME Committee Meeting for members to discuss and find solutions to the area of complaint.
  • Compliance issues will automatically be moved up to the Accrediting Director for immediate review.
