Overview

The PIONEER, Pediatric Intestinal Rehabilitation: Opportunities in Nutrition, Emerging Clinical Evidence, and Experimental Research, Symposium is a premier conference dedicated to advancing the care of pediatric patients with intestinal failure. This multidisciplinary forum will spotlight the latest breakthroughs in bench, translational, and clinical research, offering a comprehensive view of the evolving landscape in intestinal rehabilitation.

Bringing together leading experts from pediatric gastroenterology, surgery, dietetics, pharmacy, and nursing, the summit will highlight cutting-edge therapies and interventions. Attendees will engage with pioneering research and collaborative approaches that drive improved outcomes for children with complex intestinal conditions, fostering innovation and interdisciplinary synergy in this rapidly advancing field.

Objectives
By attending this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe emerging clinical and experimental strategies in the management of pediatric intestinal failure, including surgical innovation, nutrition optimization, and regenerative therapies.
  2. Analyze mechanisms and management of complications such as parenteral nutrition–associated liver disease, bacterial overgrowth, feeding intolerance etc.
  3. Evaluate current approaches to enteral and parenteral nutrition, including strategies to promote growth, intestinal adaptation, and prevention of liver injury.
  4. Interpret translational research findings on gut-liver signaling, microbiome-host interaction, and organoid or animal models of short bowel syndrome.
  5. Apply multidisciplinary care models that integrate gastroenterology, surgery, nutrition, pharmacy, and nursing to improve patient outcomes.
