Cardiology QI & Outcome Review conference is a form of a Quality Improvement and Mortality & Morbidity conference. One or two cases are chosen where unexpected outcomes are reviewed. The cases are presented in detail by fellows and then discussed with faculty and fellows with focus on systems issues analysis. The discussion leads to suggestions for quality improvement initiatives to address identified systems issues. 

This is a weekly case-based conference focused on the evaluation and management of patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS). Faculty, fellows and clinical staff review cases, including diagnostic findings, angiographic data and interventional approaches.

This conference will combine discussions between cardiology and cardiac surgeons specific to patients with cardiac surgical disease. Both specialties are crucial for management of these patients and a multi-disciplinary approach is not only paramount but also recommended by professional societies. This conference will allow review of clinical cases, pertinent literature reviews, and guideline review.

Cardiology Journal Club occurs monthly. One article is chosen every month with the goal to address multiple arenas of cardiology including imaging, interventional, electrophysiology, and general cardiology. Journal club is schedule for 1 hour from noon to 1pm. Cardiology core lectures occur weekly, Monday, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Categories of core topics include: electrophysiology (Mondays at 7a), general cardiology (Wednesdays at noon), Echocardiography (Tuesdays at noon), interventional cardiology (Fridays at 6:30a). Each lecture is scheduled for 1 hour but will differ for time of day depending on day/topic. This is a monthly conference where the Cardiothoracic Surgery Division meets and discusses the outcomes of cases for the month. It also entails discussing high risk and interesting cases to leverage the wide group of experienced in a group to ensure optimal patients care outcomes. This meeting involves all surgeons advance care level providers, anesthesiologists, any residents, or fellows on the service.
