The conference sessions will focus on current and emerging best practices for the management of obesity, diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and cardiovascular disease:

- Introducing current and new treatment strategies to address these multiple overlapping disorders (with common pathogenic mechanisms)
- Pediatric Metabolic Diseases
- Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
- Impact of metabolic disorders on Renal outcomes
- Impact of metabolic diseases on COVID outcomes

These conditions are seen by all physicians and are often not captured or under-diagnosed. Our aim is to bring attention to these common disorders and need for early identification of those at highest risk.




Objectives
By attending this program, participants will be able to: 

  1. Summarize the interactions of metabolic disorders with various organ systems including the kidneys, lung, heart, brain, ovaries, liver, skin
  2. Discuss Weight Loss Strategies (medication, endoscopy, surgery)
  3. Review new medications for T2DM including GLP1 agonists, SGLT2 inhibitors, and DPP4 inhibitor
  4. Recognize the impact of the Metabolic syndrome in the Pediatric population
  5. List metabolic risk factors
  6. Identify complications of the metabolic syndrome

Non SLU Trainees:

In order to confirm your trainee status you will be required to submit either a scan of your hospital ID or submit a letter confirming your trainee status. Scan and email to [email protected]. Once received, reviewed, and approved, we will email you letting you know you can register as a Non-SLU Trainee. Conference fees must be paid in full before the conference. Failure to provide proof of trainee status will result in termination of your registration.

Cancellations:

Cancellations received before April 8, 2024, will be issued a refund minus a $100.00 administrative fee. After April 8, no refunds will be issued.

Saint Louis University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. 

Credit Designation:

Grievance Policy & Procedure

The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards and the SLU CME Program Mission is the responsibility of the CME Program Director in consultation with the CME Program Accrediting Director & CME Chairperson, and the Continuing Education Committee. While Saint Louis University CME Program attempts to anticipate issues and assure fair treatment for all participants to conduct and experience valid and successful CME activities, there may be occasional issues which require intervention and/or action on the part of the CME Program. To register a complaint or grievance with the Saint Louis University CME Program:

Submit a written, detailed complaint or grievance to [email protected]. Complaints will be reviewed by the Program Director and addressed or transferred to the appropriate level for review:

  • Answers and/or actions taken to rectify complaints will be documented and sent to those that provide contact information.
  • If appropriate, complaints will be reviewed at the CME Committee Meeting for members to discuss and find solutions to the area of complaint.
  • Compliance issues will automatically be moved up to the Accrediting Director for immediate review.
