Overview

This 1/2 day program is designed for educational and outreach purposes regarding addressing challenges in the management of Crohn's Disease. The target audience will include SLU and WashU trainees as well as gastroenterologists at SSM community hospitals, and colorectal surgeons. Aim is to address the professional practice gaps in all six competencies including: patient care, medical knowledge, practice-based learning & improvement, interpersonal & communication skills, professionalism, and systems-based practice. This program will provide updated information established by the new guidelines and recommendations based on the most current research presented and will go a long way towards improving patient outcomes.


Objectives
  1. Explore strategies for managing patients with refractory Crohn's disease.
  2. Review best practices for managing Crohn's disease patients after surgery and role of future research in preventing disease recurrence.
  3. Discuss the endoscopic management of Crohn's disease-related complications , such as fistulas, strictures , and abscesses, and when to consider non-invasive versus surgical options.
  4. Understand advanced surgical techniques for treating perianal fistulas in Crohn's disease.

Registration

Please review the registration fees below as well as cancellation fees and the trainee definition. This is a hybrid event, ensure you select the correct option when you register.

  • Non-SSM:
    • Physician: $20
    • Health Practitioner (APP, nurse, dietician, pharmacist): Free
  • Metabolic Symposium Industry Partner/Non-HCP:
    • $400
  • Metabolic Symposium Trainees, upon verification of trainee status (ID, letter, etc.):
    • Outside of SLU/WashU: $0         
    • SLU/WashU - Fellows/Residents: $0, must register ahead of time to attend
  • Metabolic Symposium On-Demand Viewing Registration (No CME credit will be awarded): $20

 

Non-SLU Trainees:
In order to confirm your trainee status, you will be required to submit either a scan of your hospital ID or submit a letter confirming your trainee status. Scan and email to [email protected]. Once received, reviewed, and approved, we will email you letting you know you can register as a Non-SLU Trainee. Failure to provide proof of trainee status will result in termination of your registration.

Cancellations:
Cancellations received before March 7th, will be issued a refund minus a $10.00 administrative fee, for those that have paid. After March 7th, no refunds will be issued.

Registration is required in order to attend the live activity and to have access to the virtual link for participants that are unable to participate in person.

Meeting login and instructions will be provided to registered and paid participants that indicate virtual attendance a few days prior to the activity. Logistics of conference location and parking will be provided to registered and paid participants that indicate in-person attendance a few days prior to the activity.

Credit Designation
Saint Louis University School of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 2.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

While Saint Louis University CME Program attempts to anticipate issues and assure fair treatment for all participants to conduct and experience valid and successful CME activities, there may be occasional issues which require intervention and/or action on the part of the CME Program. To register a complaint or grievance with the Saint Louis University CME Program:

Submit a written, detailed complaint or grievance to [email protected]. Complaints will be reviewed by the Program Director and addressed or transferred to the appropriate level for review:

  • Answers and/or actions taken to rectify complaints will be documented and sent to those that provide contact information.
