Overview
This half day CME/CE conference will take place in person, face to face, and virtual on-line live ZOOM meeting for those not wanting to travel or interact with others. We will have expert faculty speakers that discuss the importance of team work and communication from the ED to therapy. Each team member that interacts with a stroke patient will have the opportunity to hear and discuss new innovations in helping Stroke patient get back to good quality of life in less time.

Objectives
  1. List the key components of a mobile stroke unit
  2. Review the theoretical advantages of the mobile stoke unit model
  3. Discuss the financial structure of the mobile stroke unit model
  4. Analyze the key mobile stroke unit publications
  5. Evaluate the current landscape of potential adjuncts to thrombolysis in acute stroke
  6. Recognize the differences between therapies in early development and therapies in definitive clinical trials
  7. Describe the role of PT, OT and ST in the ED
  8. Discuss how therapy services assist physicians and social workers with disposition planning
  9. Review the data for systemic thrombolysis or mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke
  10. Identify tools to help inform patients and their surrogate decision makers around decisions in the setting of acute ischemic stroke
  11. Identify tools to help inform patients and their surrogate decision makers around decisions in the setting of acute ischemic stroke
  12. Recognize the ethics of consenting patients and/or their surrogates for interventions in the setting of acute ischemic stroke
  13. Recognize importance of standard neurologic assessments during the transition of care between nursing providers
  14. Identify barriers to the NIHSS as a complete handoff assessment tool in patients with severe neurologic injury
  15. Develop and integrate a standard neurologic assessment tool for nursing bedside handoff
  16. Use prehospital stroke scales and scores with an ability to differentiate the limitations of each
  17. Employ destination decision making which promotes optimal stroke patient outcome
  18. Discuss common therapeutic approaches to management of cerebral edema following ischemic stroke
  19. Identify the molecular target of glyburide and describe downstream effects on the development of cerebral edema
  20. Evaluate the safety and efficacy of IV glyburide for the prevention of cerebral edema following ischemic stroke

The monitoring and assessment of compliance with these standards and the SLU CME Program Mission is the responsibility of the CME Program Director in consultation with the CME Program Accrediting Director & CME Chairperson, and the Continuing Education Committee. While Saint Louis University CME Program attempts to anticipate issues and assure fair treatment for all participants to conduct and experience valid and successful CME activities, there may be occasional issues which require intervention and/or action on the part of the CME Program. To register a complaint or grievance with the Saint Louis University CME Program:

Submit a written, detailed complaint or grievance to [email protected]. Complaints will be reviewed by the Program Director and addressed or transferred to the appropriate level for review:
