Overview

This fully virtual lecture series will provide a 1 to 1 1/2 hour live lecture each month, via Zoom, on a specific topic pertinent to Medicolegal Death Investigation. After each ATDI lecture, speakers will be available for an interactive Q&A session. Registration is required to attend each session, and Continuing Education Credits will be available for participants. Anyone who has completed the SLU Basic Medicolegal Death Investigation course will be eligible to take the ATDI Course. You may register for individual sessions or register to attend all seven sessions.

NAME, ABMDI and AAFS all suggest that continuing education regarding investigation techniques is the best way for medicolegal death investigators to hone their skills. A number of death investigators have identified topics on which they would like additional training to aid in the investigation of complicated scenes and new available resources.

This session will focus on the investigation of asphyxial deaths, including historical information, scene investigation and autopsy findings.

Course Director:

MariaTeresa A. Tersigni-Tarrant, D-ABFA, D-ABMDI

Kelly L. Nicholson, B.S., F-ABMDI

Tara M. Rick, B.A., F-ABMDI

  3. Review historical information that may be important to the investigation
  4. Discuss what to look for at an asphyxia death scene
