Overview

This enduring material is the recording of presentations given at the 13th Annual Acute Stroke Activity that was held live on-line, October 3rd, 2020.  These presentations gave an overview of the management of stroke patients. Topics include:

  • Advances in Neurocritical Care
  • Advances in Minimally Invasive Neurointerventional Techniques
  • Neuromonitoring Intelligence for Stroke Treatment Stewardship
  • Advances in the pre-hospital and ED care of stroke patient
  • Quality Improvement as a tool for excellence in Stroke Centers
  • Advances in Systemic Thrombolysis Therapies: Tenecteplase
  • Multidisciplinary care of the family in the ICU

Objectives
This online virtual continuing educational activity should provide the tools you need to gain the skills to implement changes at a local level. The objectives below are a broad over aching set. Each faculty will provide objectives that tie back to their presentation and the list below will be updated if applicable.

  1. Review the most up to date advances in the care of critically ill patients with neurologic injury.
  2. Identify the latest advances in minimally invasive Neurointerventional techniques techniques
  3. Gain the skills to implement changes at a local level.
  4. Review the most up to date advances in the Pre-hospital and ED care of Stroke patients.
  5. Discuss the most up to date advances in Quality Improvement methods as a tool for excellence in Stroke Centers.
  6. Convey current guideline recommendations regarding the use of thrombolytic therapy for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke
  7. Identify the pharmacological differences between alteplase and tenecteplase
  8. Evaluate the published studies investigating the use of tenecteplase for ischemic stroke
  9. Describe the role of Pastoral Care in offering support to ICU patients and their families as well as staff
  10. Describe how Social Work/Care Coordination collaborate with patients, families and the medical team to address discharge planning in the ICU
  11. Describe how PT, OT and ST work with patients and families to improve participation with early intervention in the ICU
  12. Review the different ways in which Nurses participate in the interdisciplinary care of Stroke patients.
  13. Review the most up to date advances in the diagnosis and treatment of Stroke

Registration

Registration is required in order to have access to the enduring material links for this continuing education activity. Links for the enduring material will be emailed through send a file to registered and paid participants within 48 hours of registration. The send a file link will be sent from email [email protected]. You will have 14 days to download the material. After that time the material will expire. Once you complete the material you will need to send an email to Tammi so she can post your completion and send you the instructions to complete an evaluation, claim credits and download or print your certificate.

 

Fees for this enduring material are:

  • SLU and SSM SLU Hospital- Affiliated   $20.00
  • All other participants $30.00

Technical Information:

SSM, Mercy, and St. Luke's firewalls will not allow this material to download on their work computers. When you register for the material please use an email other than your work email. If you already have a member profile in the SLU CME Database you will need to go into your home page and update your email address.

The best browser to use is Google Chrome or Firefox

The material should take you about four hours to review. Once you have it downloaded to your PC you can stop and start as you prefer. If you are only going to watch one or two ot the lectures due to your own educational needs then you would need to only claim the time you spent on those two lectures. If you watch the full material then you can claim the full amount.
